Janis Douglas, LMHC, CAGS


Janis Douglas has been a licensed Mental Health Counselor since 2003. She received her undergraduate degree in Social Work and Psychology at Roger Williams University in 1993. She obtained her Masters of Art degree in the Counseling and Education Psychology program at Rhode Island College in 2003. She also holds a completed Certification in Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in psychology from Rhode Island College. Janis worked for 15 years administering clinical care in the Child Adolescent Intensive Treatment Services at East Bay Center providing support and counseling to children who were at risk for out of home placement or psychiatric hospitalization. She has worked in Adult outpatient services specializing in marital therapy, domestic violence and child sexual abuse and child/adult trauma. Janis has provided group skills counseling in elementary and community settings along with therapeutic individualized teen counseling in the High School settings. She has much experience in working with state custody children in DCYF and court systems. She treats women's issues, early childhood and teen behavioral problems, performs marital counseling, treats anxiety and depression, and can also provide a wealth of information and interventions for the treatment of children, families and couples. Ms Douglas is available for appointments on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays. She does provide day and later evening hours for convenience.
