Rebecca Sousa is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in RI and MA who has been working in the field of social work for over 20 years. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in social work from North Carolina State University in 2003 and a master’s degree in social work from Barry University in 2005. She obtained her LICSW in 2009. Rebecca began her work as a medical social worker in 2004 working as a Social Service Director at skilled nursing facilities and then as a hospice social worker working with adults, elders, and their families.
In 2011 Rebecca began providing psychotherapy services to adults and older adults. Her areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, geriatrics, Alzheimer’s Disease, grief and loss, terminal illness, and caregiver stress. Rebecca has experience working with family systems surrounding grief and loss, and other difficult life transitions.Rebecca has provided supervision for bachelor and master level social work interns as well as social work professionals seeking their licensure. She has provided training on topics including seasonal affective disorder, medical social work, emotional health, and geriatric psychotherapy to social work students, social worker professionals, and the older adult population. She was also a dementia caregiver support group leader for 6 years.
In 2023 Rebecca began working as a psychometrist providing neuropsychological testing to children, adults, and older adults. She is currently the Testing Clinic Director.
