Rebecca Sousa, LICSW

Rebecca Sousa is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who has been working in the field of social work for almost 15 years.  She graduated from North Carolina State University in 2003 with a Bachelors in Social Work and minor in Sociology with focus on family and gender studies. In 2005 she went on to obtain her Masters Degree in Social Work from Barry University in Miami, FL. Rebecca obtained her LICSW in 2009.

Prior to becoming a psychotherapist Rebecca was a medical social worker for 8 years. She has worked with adults, elders and their families in hospice, skilled nursing facilities, and in the community.

Rebecca began providing psychotherapy services to adults and older adults in 2011. Her areas of specialty include depression, anxiety, geriatrics, Alzheimer’s Disease, grief and loss, terminal illness, and caregiver stress.  Rebecca also has experience providing support to those going through life transitions such as job changes, divorce, and retirement.

Rebecca has provided supervision for both bachelor and master level social work interns. She has provided trainings on topics including seasonal affective disorder, medical social work, emotional health, and geriatric psychotherapy to social work students, social worker professionals, and the older adult population.  She was also a dementia caregiver support group leader for 6 years.

Her goal is to provide a safe space for adults and older adults to work towards improving their quality of life.
